The Medical Council of India requires every Indian student to apply for an Eligibility certificate prior to joining abroad. It means that the student needs to inform the MCI in writing, that he/she plans to join a particular University in China & submits all the academic certificates to MCI for due verification.
The MCI has updated the list of Recognised Medical Universities Abroad in their website. The lists can be assessed country-wise & it serves as one of the best tool for a student to confirm the recognition of the University in India. It is advisable to join any Medical University that is listed with the MCI website. If the student joins a University that is not yet listed with MCI, he/she may not be granted a REGISTRATION to work as a doctor in India.
Once the student gets the list of approved Medical Universities in China through the MCI website, the confusion regarding “The BEST MEDICAL UNIVERSITY IN CHINA FOR INDIAN STUDENTS” doesnt seem to get over. The MCI lists about 234 approved Universities in China , then how to chose the best among them?
According to the Ministry of Education China website, the Chinese Ministry only approves about 48 Universities to conduct MBBS course in English medium. These figures are in accordance to the list updated in 2016. The English medium MBBS list for 2017 is yet to be updated in the Ministry of Education China website.
MCI recognised 234 Medical Universities in China, but China approves only 48 Medical Universities to conduct English medium MBBS programme. Since the 48 medical universities are properly authorized by the Ministry of Education to carry out English Medium MBBS, they tuition fees is relatively higher than the other approved Medical Universities.
What if the student is looking for the cheapest available option to join MBBS abroad? In such case, the student can join any one of the Universities in China which is listed in the MCI website and the one that offers the lowest tuition fees. Eventhough these college may not be approved to run the course in English, they are allowed to conduct courses as Bi-lingual medium ( English & Chinese).
However, in reality most of the Universities approved to run a bi-lingual MBBS programme is currently running the courses in English medium to satisfy the requirement of foreign students at the University.
